Dealing with Norovirus/Winter vomiting Bug

Dealing with Norovirus/Winter vomiting Bug

Between 600,000 and 1 million people in the UK catch norovirus each year. The virus is easily transmitted from one person to another. It can be transmitted by contact with an infected person; by consuming contaminated food or water, or by contact with contaminated surfaces or objects.

The infectious dose is very low, swallowing as few as 1-100 particles may be enough to cause illness. Outbreaks commonly occur in semi-closed environments such as hospitals, nursing homes and schools, where people are in close contact with one another for long periods.Norovirus, sometimes known as the winter vomiting bug is the most common stomach bug in the UK, affecting people of all ages.

As the name suggests it is a virus. The virus has the ability to remain infectious if it is not cleaned with a suitable product. In particular ordinary detergents do not kill the virus.

We are now supplying Selgiene Extream, which has been certified to EN 14476:2005 standard specifically to kill Norovirus. Selgiene Extream is also tested to BSEN 1276, BS EN 13704 and BS EN 1650 which covers the full range of harmful bacterias and moulds.
